ALL OF HER
36 x 60 inches
Watercolor on gesso
Catherine explores the paradoxes of womanhood in this piece – strength and vulnerability, confidence and insecurity, beauty and imperfection. These contradictions and complexities are meant to challenge conventional perceptions of femininity and identity.
All of her is an interesting and complex work of art. The use of watercolor on gesso and wax finish on canvas creates a unique interplay of light and black, with the silver and pink hues appearing and disappearing depending on the angle of view. The abstract faces looking up to all of her add another layer of interpretation to the painting. The interplay between the figurative elements (naked woman) and the abstract elements (faces) could be seen as a commentary on the subjective nature of perception. figures looking at the painting adds another layer of intrigue, suggesting that the artwork is meant to be interacted with and interpreted by the viewer.
